How to be a blogger and what you need to know

Hey Hey,

Welcome back to my blog. This blog post is going to be a little bit different to what i normal write and blog about, but lately i have been getting A LOT of questions about blogging and being a influencer.

1. What you should and shouldn't share on social media
This topic needs to be discuss when it comes to blogging and what you should and shouldn't share. Social media is amazing when it comes to allowing you to express your thoughts and expressions, but sometimes people need to know when its the right time to share there thoughts, and how it should be shared.

If your starting out on blogging i suggest creating a brand new Instagram for all your work and then keep your personal account private, You want your blog/handles to be professional.

When it comes to your work IG don't share you and your friends getting drunk every weekend, unless if its you and your friends showing off your outfits (without the champagne glasses).

Anything that doesn't fit into your "theme" keep it only to your personal account. Don't post any negative things from your personal life onto your social media handles that only drives traffic away from your pages. No one wants to see how much you hate someone or how much you dislike your EX.If companies see a lot of negativity they wouldn't want to work with you.

If you want to share a little bit of your personal life without over sharing then i would recommend using Instagram Stories. Instagram stories is the perfect way to look into someone else's life, because it's not so put together.

2. How to stick to one feed/theme
This one is a fun one when your just starting out, you can chose whatever you want to post weather its fashion, beauty or life style. Once you picked a feed you want to stick with, stay with it. Don't change every 5 seconds because that way you will just loose followers. If your a makeup artist, no one wants to see what you are eating or drinking on your feed (keep that to your stories) people follow you because they like your work, they don't want to see the other stuff they will just find someone else to follow.

When you edit your pictures this is the most important part in sticking to the same feed and to make sure all your pictures flow into the one. Use the same editing app and use the same filters, i like to use the app called vsco cam i'm sure you all know the app and how to use it. I tend to stick to 3 filters that i use to make my pictures and my makeup brighter. I have a whole blog post on how i edit my pictures.

3. How to create new content and not be repetitive
Creating new content is very hard when you are a blogger because you don't want to be receptive, you want to create content your followers/readers like. How i create content and get new ideas for my makeup looks, i look through my feed and see what i have already done and what colours i haven't used and mixed together.

I go from there and then i pick 3 colours i haven't used together and post on my IG story and do a poll on what style look my followers would like to see. My followers pick everything and that makes it easier for me. I also go through my feed and see what is trending and i get a lot of inspiration that way.

I look at the last 3 looks i have previously done and i also make sure that i don't repeat my pose. All you have to do is go through your own feed and mix and match everything you have done already and you have created something new. Ask your followers what they want and want to see because this is all for them.

4. How to get "PR" and receive free products and to be added on a pr agency list

Now this is the most asked question i get all the time, "how do you get free stuff" "what do i have to do to receive them" I'm going to be completely blunt here, i've had people asking me this question when they have 200 followers or less. If you are seriously interested in becoming a blogger and your already thinking this at such a low following then you aren't going to get anywhere. Sorry to deliver bad news.

PR agency/Brands aren't going to send you products for free if you don't have a audience, no audience = no sales. First thing you should be thinking about is how do i grow a audience not how do i get free products. Growing a audience takes time, a long time nothing on social media happens over night. Social media takes a lot of work if you are seriously thinking about making it full time.

Before going onto the next subject in this topic, I know it gets frustrating growing a following, i know i've been stuck on 10k for two years. But please please don't buy followers. Buying followers is a big no no. People will notice and brands will notice. Just don't do it and stick with it.

Now if you do have a following and a audience you can think about getting free products and getting added onto a pr list. I'd say think about this once you hit 5k, once you hit this amount you should add your email address in your bio.

When your a new blogger/Instagrammer then i suggests you contacting brands that you want to work with first. You are your own boss, you have to go out and find work for yourself regardless of how many followers you have weather it's 5k or 500,000+ some brands might not even know who you are.

Once you have drafted a proposal email send it to the company's Pr email address, Don't be sad if they don't reply or they say no. You'll be getting more "no" then yes. Just keep at it and you'll get one.

What is a PR agency and what do they do?

A PR agency works with brands to promote their companies and send products on their behalf to bloggers. Remember how i got some Biore skin care products a couple of months ago? well i got sent them through a PR agency. Sometimes brands are to busy to send out products to bloggers so they get someone else to do it for them.

How do i join?

Usually on their website they will have a "i'm a influencer" or "i'm a brand" you select the " i'm a influencer" button and fill out the application.

If they don't have a application then find a email address on the website usually that is found at the bottom under contact us. Pitch them your proposal and see you go, it usually takes a couple of weeks to be contacted.

5. How to deal with hate

For me personally i never take it to heart. Over the years i've dealt with a lot of bullying / cyber bullying and dealing with that has made me stronger and the older i get the stronger i get. I always go by 'If they don't pay my bills or if they don't know me personally they don't matter' most of the time people who send you hate are the ones who have never spoken to you or have heard bad things about you through other people and have built up an idea of you through them.

After being hurt time over time i have learnt its best to walk away and not say a thing which convenient because online you can block someone and by blocking them you don't have to see them or see them in your comments. Block them and never unblock them.

You know your doing well when you are getting hate because you are finally doing something better then them.

NEVER retaliate never ever do that, it only makes them angrier. Never post on your stories of someone sending you hate your given them the attention they want and by that they are winning.

Hope you enjoyed this post! xxx
