What are undertones and how to tell what tone your skin is?

In this post i'm going to be talking about undertones and what undertones are. I find knowing what your undertones is the most important step in finding your perfect foundation shade. What are undertones? Undertones are the colour under your skin which makes us all different. You might think your friend has the same skin colour as you but 90% of the time they don't, all because of the undertones we all have and how different they are.

Don't mistake skin tone as a undertone because there two completely different things. Skin tone is if you were looking for your foundation shade and the name is "ivory" or "beige" there the skin tones, there the first layer of your skin hence the name "skin tone". Where undertone is the layer under the skin.

Now to find what undertone you are there are many ways to find what undertone you are the first one and the easy one is to see how your skin reacts when you are in the sun. If you burn easily and tan very minimally, you most likely have a cool undertone. If you are still not sure what one you are you could have a neutral undertone which is a mixture of the both, this is the undertone i am.

Another tip is based around your hair colour and eye colour, undertones will after all make your natural features glow. Its also best to see your tones in natural lighting and after a freshly washed face. Also pull your hair back and keep your shoulders bare so you can get your true sense of colouring.

Look at the inside of your wrist. What colour do your veins predominately appear? this trick is also another way to find what undertone you are.
