How to apply fake eyelashes

Eyelashes,
Who doesn't love eyelashes? they make your eye makeup look more glamours then it already did, they finish off any type of look perfectly. I get so many questions on "how do you apply lashes" "what lash glue do you use" and "how do your lashes not flap off at the end of your eye". This post is going to cover everything you need to know about lashes, I have already done a blog post all about what style suits for hooded eyes, and what are my favourites, click here if you would like to read that blog post before reading this one.

I know eyelashes can be scary when you are first learning makeup, but trust me, girl, they are so easy once you learn how to apply them and the more you practice the easier it gets.

Prep your eyes first
Once you have done your eye makeup and your eyelashes are looking bald, I recommend prepping your lashes before you apply your fake ones. By prepping your lashes I mean apply mascara to your lashes so your fake ones have someone to grip one and will blend easier with the falsies.

Measure your fake lashes
So many girls forget to do this step, this step is so important when applying falsies, you don't want to be that girl with eyelashes flapping off your eye. Let me tell you how to measure your lashes super easy once you get the hang of it.

  1.  Place your lash onto your natural lash (without any glue) and see how much of the lash hangs off.
  2.  Cut off the lashes that falling off your eye. Only cut one or two bits of the lashes off first so you don't over cut them.
  3. Place them back on your eye and measure them again until you are happy with them.
When you don't measure your lashes properly then your eye will feel irritated, and in general, it isn't a cute look.

Apply glue to your lash band
I remember I was at work and this lady came up to me that needed help with fake lashes, I helped her find the style she liked and she was happy then she turned around and placed them on her lashes and said like this? I told her that you need to apply glue to them otherwise they won't stick. Glue is MUST in applying lashes, you can't expect something to stick down for a long period of time or even a short period of time without putting glue down to make it last that long.

I use Duo glue which you can get it at any Mac cosmetics counter. Apply the glue with a cotton tip and apply a little bit because if you apply too much then it will ruin your lashes. In saying that ALWAYS apply a little bit more in the inner corner of your lashes so they stick down, the inner corner for me always manages to pop up during the day because I didn't put enough glue on, don't be that girl. Make sure you apply enough for it to stick down.

Once you have applied glue on your lashes don't put your lashes straight onto your eyes because that will just ruin your makeup you spent hours doing. Wait a minute or so until it gets tacky and isn't so runny you can apply them to your lashes, waiting a minute is better because it will be quicker for you to apply the lashes onto your eyes and you won't get glue everywhere.

Apply mascara
I know in my first step I said to apply mascara to prep the eye but you also have to apply mascara once you have finished applying your falsies. Applying mascara at then end blends everything together. Also helps your fake lashes look a little less fake.

Some extra tips
  1. Once you got the hang of applying lashes, make sure you try and apply the lashes closer to the lash line if you apply them not on the lash line then you will have a gap between your lashes and your natural lashes and it's super noticeable. By doing this once you have placed your lashes onto your eyes grab your fingers and press them together to move your lashes down.
  2. While applying your lashes look down into a mirror, this will make it easier for you to see your lash line so you can avoid getting that gap between your natural lashes and your fake ones like I mentioned above.
  3. Hide your lash band, now this is important because most lashes have a black strip where the lashes are connected to. Hiding your lash band is easy because all you need to do is apply eyeliner to cover it or black eyeshadow.  But if you don't want to do either of this then make sure you can get your lash band so close to your natural lashes so no one can see the band.
  4. Apply your lashes with your fingers if you are a beginner, with all my training I have done always been told to use your fingers when applying. They are easier and safer.
  5. One last tip, when removing your lashes from the packet be very careful because they are very delicate. Get one of your fingers whatever one feels right for you and slowly remove the lashes from the packet. If you remove them fast you are most likely going to ruin your lashes (like I did).
I hope this post helps you with applying your lashes and would love to see your pictures with your lashes on.
