Everything you need to know about the baking technique

Since I have covered everything when it comes to your base application such as skincare, foundation, cream contour, powder contour. I have left out one technique that is really important if you want your makeup to last all day/night and if you want your makeup to look flawless and that is baking.

If you are wondering what on earth is baking? no not baking in the kitchen but the baking technique in the makeup world. Yes there is a technique called baking and I'm hoping in this post I will be able to teach you how to bake.

What is baking?

Baking is a technique which was found by the drag industry, Whenever drag queens would get ready they would bake with translucent powder to make sure their makeup would stay on while they performed. It's been around in the drag queens industry for a long time but it's only just becoming a trend over the last couple of years for everyday makeup wears and makeup artist.

How to:

  • Highlight you're under eyes with concealer and blend that out with a beauty blender or a brush.
  • Once you have highlighted the parts where you want to highlight, set the areas with translucent powder.
  • Leave the translucent powder on your concealer for about 5-10 minutes
  • Once your timer has gone off brush the reminding powder with a fluffy brush away.
I recommend applying your powder with a beauty blender, it doesn't matter if its dry or wet because a sponge is small and can get in the small areas where a brush can't. Really press your product into the skin to make sure your powder is going to set properly.

Any translucent powders can work to do the baking technique I prefer to use my Face Of Australia translucent powder and once I remove all the powers I like to set the rest of my face with the Hourglass translucent powder for the natural glow.

Baking is also used for photo shoots for that airbrushed finish, If you want to take a lot of flash photos then I suggest you to bake because if you do it properly it will remove any under eye bag you have and will make you look flawless.

Now it's time for you to grab your translucent powder and beauty blender and bake away.
