The five key pieces it's worth nailing in your makeup routine

You know what my favourite thing in the world to do other than makeup? is looking back at old photos. Why? because I love seeing how much my makeup skills have improved and how much I have grown. Over the years I definitely have changed the way I apply my makeup and it's for the better too.

Foundation: Foundation is the most important step in your routine to nail because it's the base of your makeup. If your foundation isn't looking it's best then how can you expect the rest of your makeup to look it's best? I'd suggest once you have nailed your foundation colour take extra time applying it to make sure it doesn't look cakey.

Tip: Once you have applied your foundation and all the cream products spray a mist (example: Mac Fix plus or Mario Badescu rose water spray) all over your face and wait a minute and then go in with a sponge just to make sure all your cream products are blended in nicely. Doing this avoids the cakey finish.

Concealer: I also believe concealer is just as important to nail as your foundation because you don't want your concealer to crease or get cakey under your eyes. Apply a little bit and quickly go in and blend it out. If you wait to blend it out then that's when it will crease.

Tip: Apply concealer with a brush for more of a full coverage look then blend it out with a sponge. Always set your under eye concealer after you have finished blending it out If you leave it sitting on your skin not blended that's when you will get creases.

Bronzer: I always see girls walking around with a muddy bronzer and it honestly isn't cute at all. Bronzer is something you need to use a light hand when you're applying it so it doesn't go on too heavy-handed because it's harder to remove when you apply too much.

Tip: Go into your bronzer with a VERY light hand and always blend up to make your cheekbones look define. If you blend down that's when your face looks droopy. If you feel you have applied way too much bronzer then get your translucent powder dab your beauty blender and apply directly under where you apply your bronzer and let that sit for a minute them brush it off.

Mascara: This is also another makeup step you don't want to go crazy and keep layering up all the time because otherwise, your lashes will look like spider legs, and that's not a look we want to go for (well most of us) If you aren't that great with mascara then find a product that has a small wand to make it easier for you to control.

Tip: When applying your Mascara always look up into your mirror just to make sure all your lashes are coated and you don't miss any. Wiggle your wand from the bottom of your lashes to the top and make sure you get right into the inner corner lash, I always miss that one out. (make sure you try and keep your mouth shut too, ah ah ah)

Lipstick: You're probably thinking how is it hard to nail your lipstick? but it's possible. Apply your lipstick with the tip to get more of the natural effect and if you still cannot get the perfectly even lips then go for a lipstick that is two shades darker (nude) then your skin tone to practice and to nail. I find nudes are the best to start off with if you are new to makeup because they aren't so obvious if you make a mistake.

Tip: If you haven't nailed your lipstick, Buy yourself a lipliner that matches your lipstick and trace your lips then fill your lips in with your lipsticks.

What are some of the steps in your makeup routine that you still need to nail? I would love to know and give you some tips.

Love,
